The Queen Elizabeth Hospital Expansion

Peer Review

Project Information

SA Health Infrastructure and the Central Adelaide Local Health Network (CALHN) are leading the consultation and design development of the TQEH Stage 3 Clinical Services Building.

This project includes;

  • A 52 bed general rehabilitation service
  • New surgical (12 Theatres), procedural (4 procedure rooms) and cardiac catheterisation services (1 lab), and perioperative support areas
  • A new Emergency Department
  • A new 14 bed Intensive Care Unit
  • A new Medical Imaging Unit
  • A new Central Sterile Supply Department
  • A new Pathology Laboratory.

As part of SA Health and CALHN’s quality assurance processes Destravis was engaged to review the developed design to provide independent oversight of clinical planning and health architecture as well as best-practice and innovations for the hospital solution.

Destravis reviewed the issued drawing set and identified a number of opportunities for improvement. These were categorised in three groups; high priority actions to be rectified prior to finalisation, other recommended actions and notes for consideration.

The review was considered by SA Health to provide very valuable feedback and had a positive influence on the final design outcomes which will be updated prior to construction.
