Capital Infrastructure Planning Study and Campus Master Plan
The purpose of this project was to assess and report on the capital infrastructure planning requirements for the Thursday Island Hospital. This information allowed the Torres Strait/Northern Peninsula Hospital and Health Service (TSNPHHS) to plan for future infrastructure changes.
Destravis conducted a Capital Infrastructure Planning Study and a Campus Master Plan with potential staged development options. The Plan included agreement on a preferred option with robust cost estimate.
For more than 10 months of the year, this site is exposed to south easterly winds which bring high salinity, high humidity and high wind velocity resulting in climatic condition which will place great demands on the building.
Destravis was engaged for our experience and understanding of construction and material selection specifically relating to coastal locations. We used this experience to assess and pinpoint the extent of infrastructure deficiencies through detailed building physics, constructability and site analysis.
We established that rectification and improvement of the existing building could be a feasible solution and proposed a program of design alterations and material changes to rectify the issues and extend the facility life for an additional 20 years.
