Project Information

Destravis was engaged by Jacobs to provide health planning services to their consultant team.

This project seeks to identify the requisite fit for purpose infrastructure at Greymouth to support the delivery of modern health services, such that a whole of system re-orientation and service integration for the West Coast DHB may be realised.

Central to the West Coast Model of Care is the colocation of the Integrated Family Health Centre with the Greymouth Base Hospital acute Emergency Department to provide primary and secondary care.

The Hospital is a multi-purpose facility, built on the existing site,  which will provide the West Coast community with a quality medical facility , including:

  • primary and secondary birthing with 24/7 acute moderate obstetric cover
  • 24/7 Emergency Department cover to treat moderate complexity acute medical/surgical and paediatric patients
  • a critical care unit
  • acute general surgery 24/7
  • day time orthopaedic surgery and low to moderate complexity electives.
  • an inpatient unit, perioperative suite, medical imaging, clinical and non-clinical support, and the
  • Integrated Family Health Centre (IFHC).

The redevelopment of the Grey Base Hospital and IFHC will enable health care providers to work together as one team and ensure the right person delivers the right care, at the right place and at the right time.

Competing drivers to align a tight Schedule of Accommodation to a very tight budget has been achieved with great success.
