Logan Hospital Maternity Service Unit Refurbishment

Detailed Business Case and Schematic Design

feature_Logan Hospital Maternity Service Unit Refurbishment Detailed Business Case and Schematic Design

Project Information

The existing Logan Hospital Maternity and Birthing were constructed 25 years ago, and Special Care Nursery at least 20 years ago. The fitout is still mostly original and fails to address current demand, access, clinical effectiveness, functionality, patient satisfaction and occupational health and safety requirements.

Destravis was engaged by Metro South to lead a Detailed Business Case for the refurbishment of the Maternity Services Unit at Logan.

The intention of the refurbishment is to address identified issues until new, purpose-built facilities become available for maternity and birthing services when the greater Logan Hospital Redevelopment is completed.

Option concepts were developed and assessed as part of a Detailed Business Case process. Of the 7 concepts developed through user consultation, Option 7 was deemed the preferred.

The schematic design process ascertained the functions, size, layout and cost of the refurbishment project.

The Detailed Business Case assessed benefits, economics, procurement, risk and costs to recommend a preferred refurbishment option.
